The key to recovering from a disaster is getting your dynamic data back and operational as soon as possible.
One of the best ways to make sure this happens is to keep your dynamic data separate from your static
data. If dynamic and static data are mixed on your primary storage, they are also mixed in your backups.
As those backups are restored, the dynamic and the static data have to be restored together. That takes more
time and subjects the restore process to more points of failure.
However, if your static data has been relocated to a data preservation system like the ProStor InfiniVault,
your disaster recovery activities can be better planned and more efficiently carried out. All of your dynamic
data can be restored first in a more streamlined manner. If your backups are 70 percent smaller
because they contain only the most dynamic data, then your restores of that data will happen 70 percent
faster.
